late 19th or early 20th century antique american heavily reinforced heavy gauge cold-rolled iron security and/or safe box possibly fabricated by the invincible metal furniture co., manitowoc, wisc. the strong box contains riveted joint edges with large rivet heads for added visual character and show of strength. the single cast brass drop handle is original and intact. the original key was lost long ago. the interior compartment is spacious, undivided and retains the original baked black enameled finish. the attractive and rather unusual zig-zag copper plating is rather impressive in design. the solid strong box is in great overall condition. measures approximately 12 x 8 x 6 inches.
