very unique and unusually small early 20th century original american industrial stationary pressed and folded steel stool or chair designed and fabricated by the chicago wire chair company, il. the distinctive lightweight stool or chair was salvaged from an old chicago area hospital. the original solid maple or birch wood seat is intact, despite being painted. the folded and pinched metal strap heart-shaped backrest is mounted to the underside of the seat. the four-legged base features curvaceous bent metal legs reinforced with multiple stretchers. the red paint finish is mostly uniform throughout. base diameter measures 11 1/2 inches, seat height measures 15 inches with back at 31 inches.
