very clean and utilitarian original c. 1940's american industrial world war ii-era naval ship medical examination chair. the exact fabricator is not known. fabricated for the united states department of defense. the swivel chair is outfitted with a heavily weighted circular-shaped cast iron tapered pedestal type hydraulic lift base. the interconnected footrest, round seat and contoured backrest are comprised of welded joint cold-rolled furniture sheet steel. the solid maple wood arm rests are original and intact. the bent tubular steel frame is structurally sound and stable. the detachable neck rest and other accessories were removed long ago. the brushed metal finish has been treated with a clear coat sealant. seat height 23". overall dimensions measure L 29-1/2" x W 25" x H 27".
