strongly built vintage american industrial repurposed compartmentalized storage rack containing c. 1930's heavy gauge steel stackable hopper boxes or "nesting bins." the freestanding industrial furniture piece features a set of custom-built solid pine wood upright supports with curved leg stationary bases. the four matching pressed and folded cold-rolled steel workbench bins were designed and patented in 1930 by thomas shaw of woonsocket, rhode island. the all-welded multipurpose brushed metal "stackbins" allow for easy access to small parts and fasteners with a smooth interior and full-flow hopper front. the equally-spaced dividers are stationary. the bins contain label slots running vertically above each opening. the 8-unit bins were manufactured by the stackbin corp., pawtucket, ri. the brushed metal and pine wood components have been refinished. measures approximately 39 x 8 x 60 inches.
