original and intact 19th century antique american ornamental black enameled cast iron fireplace mantel summer cover possibly fabricate by the peerless mfg. company, louisville, ky. the heavily perforated eastlake style summer cover was salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. the fireplace cover is in great overall condition with no cracks or breaks evident. The cover measures 27 3/4"h x 19.75"w x 7/8" deep at largest central protrusion.
