original c. 1890's antique american ornamental cast iron "oriental" pattern interior residential doorknob backplate designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the flush mount iron passage door backplate has been lightly cleaned and clear-coated. faint traces of the original copper-plated plating evident. the wrought steel collar or thimble is secured tightly to the backplate. measures approximately 5 x 1 3/8 inches.
