exceptionally well-maintained norwalk lock company "locks and builders' hardware" c. 1933 catalog featuring a nicely organized and thorough compilation of hardware fittings from the depression era. the catalog includes, but is not limited to, a sizable collection of padlocks, cabinet hardware, door closers, dead latches and entrance door lock sets. the hardcover catalog has some tearing along the top and bottom of the spine, but no damage to the book's binding is evident.. the 287-page catalog is free from missing pages, etc. in 1856, a group of prominent local businessmen led by ebenezer hill formed the norwalk lock company with henry h. elwell, who owned a patent for plating cast iron keys. they took advantage of the emerging coal power technology to build their factory and foundry on marshal street in south norwalk, conn. the location was convenient to both rail and water transportation. norwalk manufactured many types of locks and keys along with doorknobs and other hardware trimmings. the hardcover catalog measures measures 9 x 11 inches.
