nice collection of all original vintage american picture post cards featuring the iconic empire state building located in midtown manhattan. the empire state building is a 103-story skyscraper designed by the architectural firm of shreve, lamb & harmon. completed in 1931, its name is derived from the nickname for new york, the empire state. it stood as the world's tallest building for nearly 40 years. the empire state building is currently the fourth-tallest completed skyscraper in the united states. the empire state building is generally thought of as an american cultural icon. it is designed in the distinctive art deco style and has been named as one of the seven wonders of the modern world by the american society of civil engineers. the building and its street floor interior are designated landmarks of the new york city landmarks preservation commission, and confirmed by the new york city board of estimate. the postcards depict the building throughout the 20th century with later ones featuring the large broadcast tower that was added in 1953. the foto-seal co., among others, printed the post cards. priced for the lot. each one measures approximately 5 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.
