early to late 1930's american depression era stationary low-lying two-tier "holsum" bread brack likely fabricated by or for the w.e. long company, chicago, il. the refinished bread rack is comprised of cold-rolled lightweight pressed and folded steel that has been brushed, sanded and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the original baked enameled advertising was barely legible and surface rust covered nearly the entire rack. each and every component is fastened together with bolts. each tier is structurally sound and stable. the topmost tier contains a spacious "backsplash" where the product name-brand was applied. the shelving unit was salvaged from an old chicago corner grocery store. measures 36 1/2 x 16 1/2 x 38 inches
