unique wood "follow" board with a deeply incised cavity or impression created from an existing ornamental cast iron rookery building staircase baluster panel designed by notable 19th century architect john root of the architectural firm of burnham and root. in sand casting, the follow board makes up the drag half of the mold, used to establish the correct sand parting. the one of a kind, c. 1987 follow board was used in conjunction with the replication of a limited number of interior copper-plated cast iron balusters reincorporated into the building during renovations and/or restoration in 1988. measures 33 x 2 x 27 inches.
