fanciful 19th century american antique exterior ornamental black enameled wrought iron window guard attributed to f.p. smith & iron works, chicago, il. the all original and intact window guard features a unique assemblage of fishtail scrolls fashioned in a symmetrical configuration. the black paint finish is mostly uniform throughout. the iron panel was salvaged from a chicago greystone residence demolished long ago. measures 35 x 31 1/2 inches.
