largely intact c. 1870's american interior turned and tapered staircase newel post salvaged from a chicago stately italianate residence undergoing demolition. the freestanding painted pine wood post was originally apart of the rear staircase leading to the servants' quarters. the structurally sound and solid newel post was fabricated or turned on a lathe in the factory of heeney and campbell, located in chicago, il. older brown paint finish remains largely intact. measures 40 inches in height.
