original late 19th or early 20th century ornamental cast iron doorknob backplates designed and fabricated by reading or possibly the penn hardware company. the six matching backplates are made of iron with a brushed metal finish sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the backplates were salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. priced for the lot.
