original and intact 19th century figural majolica fireplace tile designed and fabricated by the international tile of brooklyn, new york. the salvaged figural tile features a bearded man with small six-pointed star in top left corner. the reddish-brown tile exhibits allover crazing consistent with age. mortar has been cleaned from the backside. displays well. the antique american figural fireplace tile was salvaged in the 1950's from a chicago mansion on prairie avenue during urban renewal.
