original c. 1940's or 1950's american vintage industrial cast iron and solid steel zim factory machine shop table base designed and fabricated by or for the walker-turner division, kearney & trecker corp., plainfield, nj. the heavy duty table contains a solid steel bare metal deck surrounded by a lightly recessed trench with raised lip. the perforated cast iron bases are detectable from the steel tabletop or deck. the machine shop table contains wear consistent with age. the machine table base was salvaged from the zim mfg. company factory. founded in 1919, the zim manufacturing company specialized in the manufacture of automobile specialty tools and gauges, housewares, and other hand tools. the extant factory is located on the far west side of chicago. 75 x 30 x 35
