original american 19th century highly collectible ornamental cast bronze "roman head" figural residential doorknob with intact footed shank. features a costumed solider portrait or profile in low-relief. the knurled edge with neogrec or greek key border was a popular design motif used during this period in time. the antique american doorknob contains a nicely aged surface patina left untouched. fabricated by the mallory wheeler co., new haven, ct. similar variations were made by p.f. corbin and russell & erwin.
