hard to find completely intact early 20th century antique american industrial stationary double-pole garment and/or clothing rack designed and fabricated by or for the great western fixture works, chicago, il. the thoroughly cleaned and refinished freestanding garment rack contains a four-legged cast iron base with claw feet and floral motifs. the heavy gauge tubular steel post or upright contains two arms extending horizontally. each arm is equipped with a fanciful brass endcap. the brushed metal finish has been treated with a clear coat finish. salvaged from an old chicago clothing store closed in the 1960's. the garment racks bar measures 35 inches and the height measures 65 1/2 inches.
