hard to find adjustable three-legged industrial steel and wood stool manufactured by the dependable manufacturing co., omaha, nebraska. the adjustable height stool was designed and patented by charles vitek in 1941. the vintage american industrial stool features a novel and automatically operative means for locking or retaining the three extensible supporting members by lifting the seat to its uppermost position to permit lowering of the seat to its lowermost position so that it can thereafter by raised to the user's desired position and automatically locked. the bent tubular steel footrest is mounted on the seat-supporting members and remains in a fixed position relative to the adjustable positions of the seat. the angled steel flared feet retains the original steel disc shoes reinforced with padding. the stationary varnished oak wood seat with incised rings exhibits wear consistent with age. the three-legged base contains a brushed metal finish sealed with a clear coat lacquer. when fully extended, the stool measures 34 1/2 inches.
