exceptionally ornate early 1880's interior residential cast iron fireplace manufactured by the fischer, leaf & co., louisville, ky. the original faux wood grain painted finish with elaborate eastlake style design motifs remains mostly intact. the detachable mantle shelf is comprised of slate. the original cast iron keystone contains a majolica glazed circular figural tile likely fabricated by the trent tile co. salvaged from a chicago residence built around 1880. measures 42 x 48 1/2 x 10 inches. firebox opening measures 20 1/2 x 25 inches.
