largely intact salvaged original antique american 19th century varnished oak wood interior residential passage header panel designed and fabricated by or for the decorators' supply company, chicago, il. the decorative solid oak wood panel is double-sided, with virtually identical finish and ornamentation. the gesso or "plastic" applique consists of opposed ribbons and laurel wreaths made up of bellflowers. the trim work along the arch consists of a classic repeating egg & dart motif. two similar panels are available (the other has a more lighter stain). the arched header was salvaged from a chicago graystone constructed around 1898. measures 26 x 16. height inside arch is 10 1/2 inches.
