c. 1895-1910 original antique american ornamental cast iron interior residential victorian era fireplace gas insert front grille or grate designed and fabricated by or for bridgeford & company, louisville, ky. the largely intact ornamented cast iron grille contains several lightly raised or embossed neoclassical style design motifs. the original baked black enameled finish is largely intact. surface wear, sporadic rust and discoloration consistent with age. the detachable back containing the rows of gas jets, along with the mixer and key handles were removed long ago. 25 inches x 30 3/4 inches.
