original and completely intact early 1940's vintage american industrial compact factory machinist tool chest or cabinet fabricated by or for the sherman-klove company, chicago, il. the portable cabinet contains a multitude of compartments used for precision instrument storage. the diamond-shaped "s-k" plaque remains intact. the drawers contain diminutive steel knobs or pulls mounted against distinctive diamond-shaped backplates. the hinged top is equipped with original metal drop handle and fully functional clasp. the original baked green enameled finish has been lightly cleaned (i.e., degreased). the drop-down panel used to prevent the drawers from sliding out is original to the cabinet. the single-story brick sherman-klove factory complex is extant and remains largely unaltered since the building was constructed around 1915-19. measures approximately 20 1/4 x 8 1/2 x 13 1/4 inches.
