pair of late 19th century antique american art nouveau style solid bronze "columbian" pattern push plates designed and fabricated by the reading hardware co., reading, pa. the intricate decorative plates are remarkably small in size, at least in comparison to standard-sized push plates. perhaps the backplates were made for some other function (yet to be identified). the original and nicely aged surface patina was left untouched. priced for the pair.
