installation of gage building's recreated terra cotta cartouche underway

for the first time in several months, i looked up at the gage building's brick cavity - where one of the two louis h. sullivan-designed terra cotta cartouches had resided since 1901 - to see a single piece (identified as "ct5l" on the graphic below) of the recreated cartouche mounted securely in place.

i'm still saddened that original cartouche could not be repaired and reinstalled, but the fact that the eyesore brick cavity is now being filled in with the ornament needed for reconstituting the well-executed replica cartouche softens the blow. the very next day, i returned just in time to see an additional unit (i.e., "ct6l") be installed just left of the first piece. i spent a few extra minutes taking additional images before the ornament was concealed by the suspended steel working platform. it's likely the platform contained additional pieces of recreated sullivan ornament, so i will pay a visit after leaving the shop later in the afternoon to document any and all additional work.
