contents from humboldt garage & auto service building walk-in vault saved shortly before its demolition

the former humboldt garage & auto service company building (1911) had a walk-in vault. shortly before that section of the building was demolished, the wreckers managed to open the door, where they discovered several ledgers, signs, salesman samples, blueprints, and other odds and ends left behind by the carbit paint company - the earliest checks date to 1938.
thankfully, the wrecker set this stuff aside for me to look at the following day. the images in this post were taken from the wrecker's phone (i couldn't make it there to shoot the vault interior with contents myself). i bought the contents the following day.
once i finish digitizing the letterheads, contracts etc., i would like to donate it all to a more deserving home. the records range from 1938-1956. there are hundreds of clients from all across chicago. thankful these historically important documents were saved.
final moments of the former auto service company (later carbit paints) building. the two oversized indiana limestone keystones with volutes were salvaged for the developer.
