late 1930's or early 1940's american antique industrial chicago factory screw machine base possibly fabricated for the garvin machine company, new york city, ny. the low-lying robust industrial base is surprisingly light in weight, despite being made of steel throughout. the legs and stretchers have been brushed down to a bare metal finish and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the top and bottom stretchers are bolted firmly against each leg. great overall condition. ideal for use as a coffee table. measures 24 x 24 x 20 inches.
