intact 1870's post-fire salvaged chicago ornamental cast iron interior residential fireplace summer cover and matching surround designed and fabricated by the henry dibble mfg. company, chicago, ills. the heavily ornamented arch-top summer cover and surround were salvaged from a chicago cottage built shortly after the great chicago fire of 1871. the cast iron fireplace insert contains a mostly uniform black enameled finish throughout. great overall condition, considering age.
