SKU: UR-28946-18
original and remarkably intact late 19th century balustrade panel. the lack of satisfactory provenance and/or history of an artifact such as the example above is remarkably disappointing and difficult to deal with. however, the craftsmanship and execution of this particular piece warrants a spot on our website. we do know that the piece was salvaged from a commercial building in detroit built in the late 19th century. the exact building (if extant) and/or architect/architectural firm is unfortunately not known. the artifact is black enameled, made of cast iron and is no doubt an interior staircase balustrade panel with riveting asymmetrical scrollwork ornament resonating slightly with the richardsonian romanesque movement. measures 23 x 12 inches. only one available. acquired from a decommissioned building artifact collection.
