original and intact early 20th century interior knickerbocker (later known as the devon) theater ceiling mount "exit" fixture featuring a bulbous ruby red glass globe possibly fabricated by the phoenix glass co., pittsburgh, pa. the early electric ceiling fixture is suspended by the original tapered and turned spun yellow brass canopy and chain. the ventilated harvey hubbell "uno" fitter retains the original threaded set screws. the key or paddle switch socket has been rewired with period appropriate rayon cloth cord. the non-extant devon theater was designed by architect henry l. newhouse. measures 7 x 31 inches.
