one of two original and largely identical antique american industrial distressed yellow enameled "expanded metal" or diamond mesh factory office waste baskets designed and fabricated by the vail mfg. co., chicago, il. the reinforced trash can contains a slightly flared or tapered profile with stamped steel bottom and rolled rim ring around the opening. the basket remains in great overall condition, considering age. the other can is similar in finish and configuration. measures approximately 14 inches tall with a 12 1/2 inch diameter.
