intact early 1930's antique american industrial hotel closet extendable garment rack or hanger designed and patented in 1929 by thomas h. hood for the extension garment hanger co., dallas, tx. the wall mount swivel bracket embodies the "lazy tong" structure, featuring a riveted joint parallel link mechanism that maintains a vertical line parallel as it extends the reach. the hollow pivotal sleeves contain suspending hooks designed for carrying suitable clothes hangers. the tubular post with swivel bracket contains four pre-drilled holes for mounting flush against the wall. the telescoping garment rack is comprised entirely of steel with a brushed metal finish sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures approximately 31 x 8 inches when fully extended.
