very unique and largely intact c. 1930's single-sided porcelain enameled die cut steel railroad crossing cautionary sign salvaged from the backside of an old tanker truck transporting flammable materials (i.e., fuel). the brightly colored, attention-grabbing canary yellow porcelain enameled finish remains largely intact with minor loss of porcelain around the mounting holes. the naturally aged surface patina, with darkened color, surface rust and sporadic discoloration provides added visual character. the cautionary truck sign was likely fabricated by the veribrite sign co., chicago, il. measures 20 x 5 1/2 inches.
