unique and visually distinctive world war ii-era american made old industrial high altitude flight crew or gunner's low pressure breather oxygen tank with stenciled black specifications over the original weathered bright yellow enameled finish. the oxygen cylinder or tank was originally suspended above a b-17 bomber aircraft sperry ball gunner turret. the ribbed and/or banded aluminum metal tank retains the original threaded fittings for use with a pressure gauge, etc. the ultra lightweight aluminum breathing tank makes for a unique table lamp base. original black lettering indicating type, volume, etc., adds great visual character. the wooden cradle and other additional fittings were removed long ago. the "non-shatterable" oxygen cylinder was fabricated by or for the united states department of defense. measures 12 x 25 inches.
