angle steel stool company, plainwell, mi.
hard to find and highly desirable vintage american industrial "no. 276" posture chair designed and constructed by the angle steel stool company, plainwell, mi. the exceptionally well-built factory office chair has a revolving seat with the height being "instantly adjustable" by means of a cast iron handwheel mounted around the solid steel spindle. the birch wood contoured seat slides (tightened in place with wing nuts) forward and backward in relation to the backrest. the rounded edge quartered oak wood backrest moves up and down and tilts with ease. the old leather upholstery, padded with curled horsehair, was in very bad condition. the "baco" swivel casters with hardened black rubber wheels are original and intact. the folded and pressed heavy gauge riveted joint steel frame has been thoroughly refinished and treated with a clear coat lacquer. no doubt one of the finest vintage industrial "posture" chairs on the market.
