hard to find and highly unique depression era american single-sided vintage industrial "elektrika" high voltage cautionary or danger sign. design and fabrication attributed to east coast sign maker ready-made sign co., new york city, ny. the factory substation sign is comprised of heavy gauge die cut steel with an amazingly intact, brightly colored porcelain enameled finish. the graphical warning was made specifically for eastern european immigrants working in or around electrical equipment within industrial settings. features the universal skull & crossbones, along with fist grasping lightning bolts. rare and highly collectible. likely mounted near a distribution transformer within an industrial complex. pressed steel mounting hole grommets remain intact. immaculate overall condition.
