all original depression era antique american industrial "new old stock" single-sided safety first "lost time accident" factory or assembly plant sign designed and fabricated by the read-made sign company, new york city, ny. the remarkable oversized sign is comprised of heavy gauge die cut steel with a vibrant green and white vitreous or porcelain enameled finish. the blank black enameled box was used for "score" chalk/marker entries pertaining to the frequency of workplace incidents large or small. the heavy steel industrial sign with "safety first" halting hand logos contains multiple pre-drilled holes along the perimeter or edges for mounting flush against the wall. great overall condition. measures 28 x 20 inches.
