all original and completely intact antique american victorian era residential rooftop chimney pot or top, comprised of unglazed buff-colored terra cotta or baked clay. the multi-faceted salvaged chicago chimney pot contains an embossed ring and louvered top. chimney pots are placed on top of the chimney to inexpensively extend the length of the chimney, and to improve the chimney's draft. a chimney with more than one pot on it indicates that there is more than one fireplace on different floors sharing the chimney. nicely aged patina. the oversized chimney pot was executed by the northwestern terra cotta company, chicago, ills.
