large anatomical illustration or chart of human muscle groups depicting front and rear views. this poster is "plate 2" of the american frohse anatomical chart series. manufactured by a.j. nystrom & co., publishers, chicago. the illustration was "edited, augmented and revised" by 19th century medical illustrator max brodel, a young german artist from leipzig, germany. he had illustrated for carl ludwig in the famous institute of physiology at the university of leipzig. the anatomical poster dates to 1918. measures 6 ft. in height by 42 inches across. good condition, considering age. another fine artifact from the depths of the cook county hospital building (still extant as of 2009).
