rare early twentieth century softcover catalog no. 151 of ‘merchandise for the home, field and workshop’ published for chicago house wrecking company. the 496 pages include detailed black and white illustrations of a wide variety of items, including furniture, machinery, hardware, and building materials. the softcover and first pages advertise the company’s purchase of the world’s fairs of st. louis and chicago, and the expositions of buffalo and omaha. chicago house wrecking company was incorporated in 1892 for the purpose of dismantling the columbian exposition in chicago. they claim to be the foremost dismantlers and purchasers of large institutions in the world, and “teach the spirit of economy”. the catalog seems to be dated from 1906. there is a 4 page index inserted in the middle. it is in good condition, the only significant wear being rubbing to the head and foot of the spine, exposing the signatures. measures 6 ¼ x 9 inches.
