remarkable c. 1930's american art deco style "aztec" neon electric wall clock

largely intact, functional american art deco style depression era electric neon wall clock. manufactured by the electric neon clock co., cleveland, oh. during the heyday of the american gas station, electric neon produced a large number of highly stylistic wall and counter clocks for use in service stations and other commercial roadside structures. the large electric clocks featured vibrantly colored neon rings surrounding the analog clock faces. the antique art deco neon clock shown above was found in an old diner. this particular model is often referred to as the "aztec", with a highly unique and repeating stepped or ziggurat bezel ring backlit by a pink neon ring. the internally lit clock face is comprised of steel with the original white with black enameled finish. a subtle green glow makes the numerals stand out. the hour, minute and sweeping second hand remain intact. clear glass cover plate original. the black enameled rolled steel "can" or housing is structurally sound. the clock keeps perfect time. exceptional art deco style artifact.
