hard to find all original antique late nineteenth century amber glass privy dug weiss beer bottle fabricated for chicago brewer paul pohl. the body exhibits steep shoulders, tapering into an applied collar that is completely intact. the front body is cleanly embossed "paul pohl / chicago" around a central logo of two open lined cursive initials "pp" surrounded on either side by "trade / mark" embossed vertically. seams indicate the bottle was manufactured in a cup bottom mold. paul pohl operated a brewery at 2335/2344 cooper street during the early 1880's and in a different iteration during the early twentieth century. the bottle retains original porcelain stopper stamped "columbia weiss beer / brewing co / [cwbb co. monogram] / chicago."
