original freestanding 19th century antique american ornamental cast iron exterior residential staircase newel post likely designed and fabricated by the dearborn foundry, chicago, il. the black enameled newel post features simple, yet elegant rondels and a large ball finial. the base plate of the newel post does contain missing edges that were broken off long ago. the post contains circular-shaped openings used in conjunction with railings. two matching (identical pattern) newel posts available. the old black enameled finish remains largely intact. priced individually. measures 4 1/2 w x 33 1/2 h inches
