group of six matching 19th century original american antique victorian era majolica glazed fireplace surround tiles designed and fabricated by the hamilton tile works, hamilton, oh. the mottled light brown tiles were salvaged from the extant david c. cook mansion, located in elgin, il. each tile contains unique symmetrically arranged geometric design motifs. surface crazing and wear typical with age. manufacturer markings lightly incised on the backside of each fireplace tile. measure approximately 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. priced for the lot.
