heavily constructed 19th century antique american varnished oak wood interior residential parlor room fireplace mantel fabricated by chas. f. lorenzen & co., chicago, il. the well-built victorian era mantel features opposed fluted pilasters with plinth blocks and curvaceous brackets or corbels, supporting the protruding shelf. the frieze is accentuated with a deeply incised repeating palmette design motif. salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. varnished finish mostly uniform throughout. measures 61 x 11 1/2 x 48 inches. interior measures 36 x 36 inches.
