original historically important c. 1907 ornamental black enameled gothic style cast iron admission ticket booth center teller cage, salvaged from the non-extant masonic temple and theater, located in hammond, indiana. the exceptionally ornate and finely detailed gothic tracery is truly remarkable. the gothic ironwork is attributed to the winslow brothers foundry. the perforated cage was flanked by matching identical grilles containing openings for transactions. the single-sided, grille contains a black enameled finish that is mostly uniform throughout. the panel was salvaged from the grand lobby leading to the vast theater auditorium. according to the northwest indiana times, the mammoth cornerstone to the ornately elegant three-story red brick building on muenich court was laid may 1, 1907, to great fanfare. speaker for the day was none other than charles fairbanks, vice president under u.s. president theodore roosevelt. in 1921, the masonic building association enhanced the building to the tune of $440,000.
