complete c. 1880's all original antique american aesthetic style ornamental cast brass residential entrance door "letters" mail slot and matching chute cover or surround. the anglo-japanese style door hardware was likely fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. the original baked black enameled inlay (used to accentuate the casting detail) remains in great condition. the unrestored, american-made chute cover contains a hinged flap or door with the word "lettters" in highly stylized lettering. the nicely aged brass patina was left untouched. measures 8 x 3 inches.
