fully functional three-legged vintage american industrial stool attributed to the dependable manufacturing co., omaha, nebraska. the "rite-hite" variation was likely designed and patented by charles vite in the 1940's. the stool features a novel and automatically operative means for locking or retaining the three extensible supporting members by lifting the seat to its uppermost position to permit lowering of the seat to its lowermost position so that it can thereafter by raised to the user's desired position and automatically locked. the outswept steel feet remain structurally sound and stable. the stationary varnished maple wood seat with incised rings is original and in great condition, considering age. the seat, backrest and steel frame have been thoroughly refinished and treated with a clear coat lacquer.
