thoroughly refinished c. 1910-20 american vintage industrial "white" articulating graduated bracket arm machinist workbench task lamp fabricated by the o.c. white co. of worcester, mass. the early electric industrial stationary fixture contains an inverted conical-shaped cast iron base containing four pre-drilled holes for mounting securely against the tabletop. the fully adjustable and outstretched arm is comprised of three distinctive cast iron swivel brackets containing deeply embossed manufacturer markings. the outermost bracket supports a threaded end steel pipe containing an adjustable "wrist" joint affixed to a g.e. co. (general electric) paddle or key socket, rewired with period appropriate braided cloth lamp cord. each pivoting bracket is mounted on a solid steel pin, whereby movement is achieved by bolted joints controlled by the use of wing nuts. the rolled rim parabola-shaped reflector or shade is comprised of wrought yellow brass, and was likely fabricated by harvey hubbell of chicago.
