odd and highly unusual c. 1930's vintage american art deco style cast aluminum "pirate mask" interior illuminated figural wall sconce purported to have been salvaged from an old coney island amusement park sideshow or vaudeville theater. the grimacing face features hollowed eyes, handlebar mustache and considerable tooth loss is both comical and a little intimidating. the pirate comes equipped with two large earrings and a studded bandanna for added effect. retains the original leviton socket and cloth cord wiring. the pierced openings were likely covered with red and/or green glass or some other kind of filtering device to conceal and/or control the intensity of the light source. features an allover crazed and heavily faded gold enameled finish. the exact fabricator is not known.
