c. 1880's ornamental cast brass drum-shaped interior residential "egyptian" pattern knurled edge doorknob designed and fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the doorknob was salvaged from the extant david c. cook mansion, located in elgin, il. the unique design carries over on the backside of the doorknob. mostly uniform surface patina with black enameled inlay used to accentuate the casting detail. measures approximately 2 1/4 inches in diameter.
